Church Sketch

Parish Choir

The ParishChoir's membership is made up of parishoners with a wide variety of musical abilities and experience.  Any one of high school age or older is welcome to join.  We are always welcoming new members and while musical experience is helpful it is not necessary.  The only requirement is a love of praising God through song.  If you are interested in joining, contact Jim Russell or just stop by one of our Thursday night rehearsals.

Choice of Music: The General Instruction on the Roman Missal (GIRM) reaffirms the teaching of the Second Vatican Council that singing forms a "necessary or integral part of the liturgy." In essence, the words and actions of the liturgy are joined with music in such a way that the liturgy has a musical character.  The GIRM regards the primary role of music to be its ritual function, enabling the community to participate in the texts and actions of the rite -- to sing the liturgy.
