Food Cupboard
The Food Cupboard
is an ongoing program at St. Paul Parish. The Food Cupboard
is open year round on alternating Saturday mornings for
grocery distribution (9–10 AM at St. Paul School in Valley
Cottage – see distribution calendar).
The purpose of the program is to distribute emergency
food to individuals and families helping to fill in the gap
when monthly income does not cover all expenses.
Volunteers serve individuals and families who
document Rockland County residence. Individuals
who come for food items are provided with several bags of
groceries along with a caring environment.
The food
distributed comes both from government grants and donations
from St. Paul’s parishioners as well as local merchants.
The need for food
donations is ongoing throughout the year. Non-perishable
food items may be donated to the Food Cupboard at the back
building of the school on Friday evenings before Saturday
distribution dates from 6 – 7 PM.
You can help by
sharing your skills, talents and time. New volunteers work
with experienced workers. This is a rewarding opportunity to
meet new friends while helping our neighbors. Here’s
how you can help:
-
Stock
Food Cupboard Shelves on select Wednesday afternoons.
-
Bag
groceries on Friday nights before distribution
Saturdays.
-
Distribute
food and/or help patrons carry grocery bags out of the
building.
